Join the Lipedema Canada team to learn more about Lipedema Reduction Surgery and navigate the decision-making process for surgery abroad. We will discuss the challenges and logistics of researching clinics and surgeons, share personal experiences of the surgical process and post-operative care, and reflect on outcomes and satisfaction levels. Additionally, we will address unique considerations such as language barriers, financial planning, and the emotional impact of surgery. Discover strategies for long-term follow-up care, leveraging support networks, and advocating for better access to comprehensive lipedema care. Gain insights, tips, and recommendations to empower your journey towards better health.
 
Our speakers for the event:
 
Angel Anderson – President of Lipedema Canada, and an experienced patient. Angel has undergone 4 lipedema reduction surgeries in Germany and was a solo traveller each time. She offers a unique perspective in the conversation.
 
Emma Cloney – Vice President of Lipedema Canada, and a surgery veteran. Emma’s completed 7 of her 10 lipedema surgeries and speaks openly about her experience advocating for provincial healthcare coverage of her lipedema reduction surgeries. Having travelled to both the USA and Germany for surgery, Emma offers a value comparison perspective to the differences between the care offered in each country.
 
Crystal Ellingsen – Director at Lipedema Canada, and passionate advocate. Crystal has had 4 lipedema reduction surgeries in Germany. She documented every step of her journey with a film crew and has shared her experiences widely through her blog, The Weight of Lipedema.

Offering the surgeon’s perspective Dr. Boris Volshteyn joins our panel to offer insights into Lipedema Reduction Surgery.

Holly Hedd – Director of Communications at Lipedema Canada. Holly is preparing for her first surgeries abroad and offers the perspective of how to select a surgeon and what considerations factor into the decision of choosing where to attend for surgery.
