Holly Hedd is a communications specialist with more than 25 years of experience spanning government, private industry, and the not-for-profit sector. Her career has included work across all forms of media, including newspapers, radio, television, and digital platforms, with a focus on translating complex issues into clear, compelling messages that drive understanding and action.

Diagnosed with lipedema in early 2023, Holly immersed herself in learning about the disease and quickly recognized the critical gaps in awareness, diagnosis, and care in Canada. Motivated by both lived experience and professional expertise, she joined with others to found Lipedema Canada, helping to build a national voice for those affected and to advocate for meaningful change within Canada’s health care system.

Holly is deeply passionate about patient advocacy, education, and improving health equity, with a particular focus on amplifying lived experience and fostering collaboration between patients, clinicians, researchers, and policymakers.

When not working toward the cause, she can be seen creating in one form or another—from writing stories to tackling renovation projects. Holly also serves as President of Lipedema Ontario.
